Sandra Chevrier’s Cages is an ongoing body of work rather than a single print edition. This guide compares three researched branches: the Poposition Press publication, two artist-direct giclée releases from 2026 and the 2023 Bénédiction ou Malédiction screenprint family. The boundary is explicit: ten named physical configurations are represented, including a known printer’s-proof offer whose population remains unknown. This is a guide to these supported families, not a complete career catalogue. Artist’s account of Cages.

CAGES: the Poposition Press publication

CAGES: The Pop Up Book is Sandra Chevrier’s collaboration with Poposition Press, translating works from her portrait series into three-dimensional paper constructions. The family has three limited configurations: Standard, Special and Portfolio. Their differences concern binding, presentation and included objects, rather than three unrelated sets of images. This overview preserves the complete researched publication family; the separate greeting card and enamel pin are acknowledged as associated merchandise, not extra book editions. Publisher’s project page.

Three formats for the shared imagery

The Standard edition contains 1,500 copies and presents the work as a bound pop-up book. The Special edition is limited to 200 and adds a presentation box, gold-foil treatment and a signed, numbered bookplate, alongside its pin and cards. These additions identify a particular package. A loose signed bookplate or an accompanying pin is not, by itself, evidence that an otherwise unverified book is the complete Special configuration. Artist’s original configuration announcement.

The Portfolio edition of 100 changes how the constructions can be used. Its six pop-ups are individually bound and designed for separate display as paper sculptures. Poposition’s description also specifies a foil-stamped presentation box, spot-varnish treatment and the associated pin and greeting cards. Compared with a bound volume, this offers a different relationship between storage and display: the set can be presented across separate positions rather than showing only the currently open spread. Publisher’s Portfolio record.

Shared works, distinct collectible objects

The six represented subjects are The Heart of the Beast, A Woman of a Thousand Faces, Red Shreds Like Fire, The Roar of Thunder, The Death of Superman / Awaiting a Saviour, and We Are One. They connect the publication to Chevrier’s broader Cages imagery, while the engineered format makes this a different object from a flat print of the same portrait. The three edition denominators apply to publication configurations, not to six independently issued print editions. Artist’s list of included works.

A complete comparison therefore needs the edition name and package contents as well as the cover image. The individually bound Portfolio pieces should not be described as pages removed from a Standard book; their separate presentation is an intended part of that edition. Conversely, the inclusion of a card or pin does not make those accessories part of the main artwork count. This distinction keeps a set’s physical identity separate from the related products sold under the same project name. Portfolio construction and contents.

The original 2021 announcement described a preorder, with production and delivery to follow. Those historical terms must not be recycled as a current shipping promise. Present access should be checked at the publisher’s exact listing. The Portfolio item record retains its edition-specific coverage, while the Sandra Chevrier profile explains the wider portrait practice. Three book configurations are represented here; no claim is made that this is Chevrier’s complete publication history.

Artist-direct Cages giclées: April and August 2026

Sandra Chevrier’s two researched artist-direct Cages print releases of 2026 use main and XL designations, but those labels do not describe a standard size across titles. La Cage, que mes yeux oublient tes yeux and La Cage, chaque nuit je rêve que je suis un oiseau share a giclée process and 300 gsm Entrada Natural paper while differing in shape and numbered edition. This comparison preserves both complete announced pairs and the separately identified April XL printer’s-proof offer. April announcement, August announcement.

April: May My Eyes Forget Your Eyes

La Cage, que mes yeux oublient tes yeux was announced for 9 April 2026 at noon New York time. The main edition is 100 at 21.5×30 inches (54.6×76.2 cm); XL is ten at 34×48.3 inches (86.4×122.7 cm). The artist specified signatures and certificates. Although the announcement uses a generic screenprint heading, its detailed medium statement, including the French version, identifies giclée. This overview follows that more specific description rather than inventing another technique or variant. Detailed release specification.

A separately researched XL printer’s proof appeared in the artist shop at US$1,500 on 6 October. Its total proof population is unknown. It should not be counted as an extra regular numbered impression within the edition of ten: a known offer identity and an unknown proof count can coexist without collapsing the distinction. Artist shop.

August: Every Night I Dream That I Am a Bird

La Cage, chaque nuit je rêve que je suis un oiseau was announced for 25 August 2026 at noon New York time. Main is 150 at 21×39 inches (53.3×99.1 cm), while XL is fifteen at 25.5×48 inches (64.8×121.9 cm). Both are hand-signed and supplied with a certificate. The smaller XL run is a separate format, not an artist’s-proof designation. August release specification.

The August announcement forecast shipping six to eight weeks after release, corresponding to 6–20 October. This remains a planned dispatch interval, not confirmation that individual orders have shipped. Both August configurations were sold out at the 6 October shop check. A sold-out observation identifies the offer’s state at that check; it neither supplies an actual shipment date nor rules out a later allocation. Shop and fulfillment route.

Compare the format before the size label

The two original announcements both priced main at US$450 and XL at US$1,250, before applicable charges. Equal price labels therefore do not establish equal dimensions or edition sizes. The August XL is substantially narrower than the April XL despite their similar height. A framing or catalogue comparison needs the complete French title and both dimensions, not simply “XL Chevrier print.”

The represented boundary is four regular numbered configurations plus one known proof offer. Proof population remains unresolved, and these two titles are not presented as Chevrier’s complete lifetime print catalogue. This overview keeps their full comparison together while the artist profile remains focused on the Cages practice.

Bénédiction ou Malédiction: main and leaf editions

La Cage, Bénédiction ou Malédiction is a two-format Sandra Chevrier screenprint release from GraffitiPrints. The main edition and the gold-and-silver-leaf edition share the same sheet dimensions and stated screenprint colour count. Their meaningful distinction lies in the additional material treatment and the separate edition denominator. That makes this a different kind of comparison from Chevrier’s releases where main and XL identify different sizes. Artist’s two-edition announcement.

The two announced editions

The main edition contains 150 impressions, made as a twenty-six-colour screenprint on 330 gsm Somerset paper at 73×95.5 cm. The original offer was £495. The publisher identifies a signed work with a certificate of authenticity. These particulars establish the main edition’s physical record; they should not be generalized to a similarly named original painting or to another La Cage release. Publisher’s main-edition record.

The companion edition contains fifty and adds gold and silver leaf while retaining the same specified paper, dimensions and screenprint colour count. Its original offer was £795. An impression can therefore have the same overall format as the main edition while belonging to a materially different run. Size alone will not distinguish the two; the finish, full edition name and numbering need to remain part of the description. Publisher’s leaf-edition record.

A specific construction, not a generic leaf-print category

Chevrier’s earlier La Cage et le murmure des amoureux illustrates why “screenprint with leaf” remains incomplete. Its January 2023 announcement specified archival pigment printing combined with seven screenprinted colours on 410 gsm Somerset. For that release, the artist described gold leaf being applied early enough to sit under later ink layers. Bénédiction ou Malédiction instead specifies a twenty-six-colour screenprint on lighter paper. The different documented constructions should not be ranked by colour count alone or assumed to use the same leaf-application sequence. Earlier hybrid-print comparison.

Both Bénédiction ou Malédiction formats were announced for 26 October 2023 at 5 p.m. UK time. That launch is historical. A later artist-held or gallery-held allocation would be another access opportunity for the identified physical edition unless a source explicitly announced a different configuration. It would not automatically establish a new edition or restart the original release date. Dated artist announcement.

This overview represents the two announced numbered editions. An AP or PP total and a separate printer credit were not established in the inspected announcement; those details remain unknown rather than being borrowed from another GraffitiPrints project. The Sandra Chevrier profile supplies broader practice context. Exact sales terms and any subsequent inventory statement belong to the relevant seller’s offer, while the medium, material treatment and edition designation preserve the identity of the work.
