Underdogs at ARTePorto: Add Fuel’s ceramics in company

Underdogs presented Add Fuel at the inaugural ARTePorto fair in the Alfândega do Porto, with a selection that connected his independent ceramic work to his collaboration with PichiAvo. The gallery’s participation ran from 24 to 27 September 2026 at Booth 108. General public access began on 25 September; the preceding day was reserved for professionals, press and invited guests. The gallery presentation and the fair’s access schedule distinguish those two openings.

Five works across three approaches

The exhibition page identifies CHASM 26 and CHASM 27, each a unique 2025 work made from layered ceramic tile mounted on an MDF panel, measuring 60 × 60 cm. Beside them, GULLY 46 (Afairesi) and GULLY 48 (Afairesi), credited jointly to Add Fuel and PichiAvo, use hand-finished ceramic tiles on water-repellent MDF. Both are unique works from 2025 and measure 30 × 30 cm. These differences give a more useful account of the selection than a single label such as “tile art”: the collaborative GULLY works occupy half the width and height of the CHASM panels, while preserving their own titles, joint authorship and specified support.

The third configuration is Amphitrite and Poseidon Diaspasis A. Also credited to Add Fuel and PichiAvo and dated 2025, it combines spray paint, acrylic, oil paint and ceramic tiles on drywall, at 104 × 88 × 6 cm. Here the ceramic element belongs to a larger mixed-media construction rather than to an all-tile panel. That change matters when following the partnership: joint authorship does not imply a uniform material recipe or a single scale across the works. Revisiting the previous year’s projects

Underdogs described the booth as a return to highlights from the previous year. The 2025 dates on these five objects are therefore consequential: their presence in a 2026 fair does not make them new 2026 editions. The booth also included AKACORLEONE, ±MaisMenos±, Manuela Pimentel, Paul Insect, Tamara Alves and Wasted Rita. For Add Fuel followers, its distinguishing feature was the opportunity to compare three material configurations within a broader gallery selection, rather than encounter a single isolated object. The fair itself combined contemporary and modern art with antiques and collectable works. Its public schedule was 2–9 p.m. on 25 and 26 September and 11 a.m.–6 p.m. on 27 September.
