Launch: November 4, 2026 — Topps US (US). Official release page. Exact opening time is not announced. The Topps direct preorder is sold out; the scheduled release remains a separate milestone.

Hobby contains twenty four-card packs and a 200-card base set. Topps Ripped states one Nucleus Refractor per Hobby box; the product’s invitation to look for autographs is not an autograph guarantee. Lunar is a separate collecting format, so its parallels and pack breakdown must not be transferred to Hobby.

Collector context

Cosmic Chrome Baseball’s 2026 edition develops two different kinds of space collecting: a player-by-player tour of the solar system and an outright crossover with Mars Attacks. The attraction is the imagery and the way its insert families organize a collection, rather than simply another treatment of the standard baseball set. Topps’ launch overview introduces Mars Attacks MLB and Cosmic Dust alongside the returning Planetary Pursuit sequence.

A separate branch of Chrome

Cosmic began in 2022, building its own galactic backgrounds around the chromium construction familiar from Topps Chrome. That makes it a distinct visual collection, not a parallel color of the regular Chrome release. Topps’ product history identifies another 2026 addition, Magenta Cosmos Refractors numbered to 299, and describes a Nucleus Refractor in each Hobby box. For a collector following a single player, those base parallels form one collecting route; the themed inserts form several others.

The 2026 checklist shows how differently those routes can be cast. Forces of the Diamond places historical players such as Jackie Robinson and Lou Gehrig alongside contemporary names. Dual Star Clusters includes Aaron Judge with Mickey Mantle, while another card joins Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. These are deliberately different ways to connect a collection: an individual player’s variations, a cross-generation team pairing, or a themed subset. A player’s base card alone will not reveal all of those appearances.

The two chases behind the space theme

Planetary Pursuit is a sequence with an uneven climb. The official Hobby odds list the Sun at 1:120 packs and Pluto at 1:28,000. Those are rates for the named categories, not for a chosen player. Completing one player’s solar system is therefore a very different project from assembling the base set. The 2026 cards also add a front number to identify the planet’s place in the sequence, according to Checklist Insider’s illustrated preview.

Mars Attacks MLB takes a different direction: it brings Topps’ own science-fiction property into the baseball product. Cosmic Dust is new to the MLB edition after appearing in other Cosmic sports releases. Those additions make 2026 worth distinguishing from earlier Cosmic years even for a collector who already owns the recurring base and planetary designs.

Hobby and Lunar have different boundaries

The odds sheet gives Lunar Eclipse base parallels a 1:2 rate in Lunar and no rate in Hobby. A Hobby-only collection therefore cannot be planned as though it includes every finish available under the set name. Autographs have their own insertion rows; the Nucleus box statement is not an autograph promise.
