Jeremy Geddes’s Trajectory: the drawing and the 2026 edition
The 300-print edition translated a 2024 graphite drawing into a near-original-scale image, with a fixed-run artist-direct release.
RELEASE RADAR HQTrajectory brought one of Jeremy Geddes’s graphite images into a signed and numbered print edition of 300. The artist announced the release for 12 March 2026 at 10 a.m. in Melbourne, priced at AUD380 including packing and postage. The image shows a fragmented cosmonaut beneath a dense plume of smoke: the helmet and reaching hands remain legible while the lower figure appears to come apart. Its monochrome rendering gives the smoke, suit and surrounding fragments their differences through tone rather than colour. Announcement
The print should be distinguished from the original drawing. Thinkspace’s catalogue dates the graphite-on-paper Trajectory to 2024 and lists it at 49 × 49 cm in association with Periphery, Geddes’s 2025 solo exhibition. The 2026 print has a 50 × 50 cm image. That close relationship in image size preserves something of the drawing’s scale, but it does not make the edition another graphite original. For someone comparing records bearing the same title, medium and date identify which object is being described. Original drawing
The sheet is larger than the square image, measuring 64 × 61 cm in the artist’s stated dimensions. The distinction matters for framing: a 50-centimetre square describes the printed composition, not the outer dimensions of the paper. The official store identifies Hahnemühle Photo Rag, a cotton paper, and production by Image Science using Epson SureColor P7070 and P9070 printers with archival inks. These are the published production specifications; they do not establish an observed surface texture or colour comparison with an original examined in person. Print specifications
The release structure also differs from other Geddes editions. Trajectory was announced as a predetermined run of 300 with one print permitted per person. By contrast, the artist’s 2023 Gnosis edition of 200 used a lottery, asking selected entrants to complete payment after allocation. The distinction concerns access as much as edition quantity: Trajectory offered a direct purchase opportunity at the announced opening time, while Gnosis separated registration from the opportunity to buy. Neither method alone establishes subsequent demand or value. Trajectory, Gnosis
The artist’s launch newsletter followed with a direct purchase link, confirming the planned sale milestone. The Australian-dollar price was the stated price; the newsletter’s US-dollar amount was explicitly an approximate exchange-rate conversion. Its shipping explanation said earlier purchases would generally receive lower edition numbers and ship earlier, rather than promising a fixed dispatch date. Those terms belong to the March release. They should be kept separate from any later offer of the print, whose condition, numbering and asking price would need to be assessed on its own evidence. Launch notice
