Topps Midnight Football FDI: October 9 auction and the confirmed seven-card box

2026 Topps Midnight Football First Day Issue was announced to open for Dutch-auction preorder on October 9, 2026, at noon Eastern, or 11 a.m. Central. At the October 9 morning check, the official Midnight page linked a specifically labeled FDI auction preview with seven cards per pack, one pack per box, three autographs and two parallels per box. The opening is a preorder milestone; Topps has not established a shipping date here.

What the FDI preview now confirms

The exact auction card supplies configuration facts that the earlier announcement did not. Three autographs and two parallels account for five positions within a seven-card opening. That concentrated structure is useful when comparing the box with products built around many packs of base cards. It does not establish the identity of the players pulled, the autograph subsets represented or the serial numbering of the two parallels.

The featured official packaging is linked directly to First Day Issue. Its night-sky design and three-Chrome-autograph label identify Midnight’s format, while the FDI marking distinguishes this offer. Similar-looking ordinary Hobby packaging should not be used to transfer an auction date or auction terms between the two configurations.

The set checklist is a different kind of promise

The saved official checklist lists Fernando Mendoza as base card 21 and in Celestial Roots at CR-22. These identify two collecting targets within the set, rather than a guarantee that an FDI box contains either card.

For a player collector, that distinction separates a checklist project from a box opening. The checklist answers which named cards exist; the offer states quantities and access. Neither establishes that a particular player’s signature or insert is among the cards in an individual box. Examine the exact subset and any printed numbering when comparing loose cards later.

Check auction terms at the opening

Topps identifies the access method as a Dutch auction. At that check, its public landing did not specify the opening price, floor, price-change interval, closing time or order limit. The linked auction directed an anonymous visitor to a retailer sign-in page, so those purchase terms remain unverified here. A scheduled opening is not proof that checkout is currently available.

Use the First Day Issue auction link to inspect its current offer terms. Keep the October 9 clock with FDI: the ordinary Hobby box now has a separately confirmed October 12 preorder at 1 p.m. Eastern, or noon Central. Price, configuration and eventual dispatch should each be checked on the chosen offer before committing to an order.
