Analogue 3D Prototype Ghost makes the limited finish the main distinction

The February 2026 edition includes matching cables and power supply; the controller is separate, and current availability messages conflict.

Prototype Ghost is a limited color edition of Analogue 3D, the company’s FPGA-based system for original N64 cartridges. The translucent pale enclosure exposes the machine’s internal structure without turning it into an actual development prototype. Analogue’s February 6 announcement says the five-color collection draws on unreleased colors prototyped for the original Nintendo 64. That is the manufacturer’s account of the design inspiration. The product being sold is a newly made Analogue console, not a surviving Nintendo prototype with historical provenance.

Orders were announced for February 9, 2026 at 8 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, with shipping expected within 24–48 hours. The exact Ghost listing shows a price of $299.99. Those details identify the original sale and the listed product; they do not establish that a fresh allocation is available now. At the latest check, the Ghost storefront says Sold Out while the edition’s presentation page still says Available Now. The dated sale remains useful history, but the conflicting present-tense messages should not be read as a confirmed restock.

The edition package is more extensive than the shell alone. Analogue lists a matching Ghost 16GB SD card, HDMI cable, USB cable and USB-C power supply alongside the console. By comparison, buying a console and an unrelated replacement cable set would reproduce the function without necessarily preserving the complete edition presentation. For a collector examining a used package, those small matching components are worth checking individually rather than assuming that any compatible power supply makes the set complete.

The controller is a separate purchase. The Prototype product page advertises a matching 8BitDo 64 controller at $44.99 and expressly excludes it from the console package. Analogue 3D also provides four original-style controller ports. A buyer who already owns suitable original controls may have a different practical budget from someone wanting the fully coordinated new controller, and the two purchase decisions should stay separate.

Hardware capabilities belong to the 3D platform rather than the Ghost finish. Analogue specifies 4K HDMI output, region-free original-cartridge support and built-in Expansion Pak support. Claims of comprehensive compatibility and lag-free operation are the manufacturer’s claims; this report is not a performance test. The edition does not claim extra processing power over the regular black or white system.

There is also a firm boundary with Pocket: Analogue says 3D does not support openFPGA. Someone attracted by Pocket’s developer ecosystem should not assume the same capability comes with this console. Ghost’s strongest collecting case is its named limited edition, translucent design and matching package. No production total or numbered allocation is stated in the inspected sources, so its scarcity cannot be quantified beyond Analogue’s own limited-edition description.
