007 First Light DualSense: gold Bond design, original release and package limits

The May 2026 controller edition brings Bond artwork to the DualSense platform; its UK package excludes a cable, and feature support varies away from PS5.

The 007 First Light Limited Edition is a gold-finished DualSense tied to Bond’s return to video games. PlayStation’s April announcement set preorders for April 17, 2026 and launch starting May 27. Both milestones have passed. The announced US recommended price was $84.99; this historical release record does not establish today’s retailer stock or checkout price.

A Bond edition, with standard DualSense functionality

The edition’s distinguishing feature is its presentation: a golden finish and radiating design around the 007 touchpad artwork. PlayStation described that treatment as barrel-inspired and attributed its development to the game’s art direction. That description identifies the intended collaboration, rather than a change in controller performance.

The useful comparison is with a regular DualSense. The exact PlayStation Direct listing describes the same haptic-feedback, adaptive-trigger, microphone, touchpad and motion-control feature set. It identifies model CFI-ZCT2W on that UK page. The edition therefore offers a specific Bond design on the DualSense platform; the listing does not establish a new performance tier. A collector choosing this version is choosing the documented collaboration treatment, while a player should evaluate the ordinary platform features separately.

The UK package contains the controller and user manual. Its terms expressly exclude the USB cable. That matters for a complete boxed example: a loose cable added by a seller should not automatically be mistaken for an original included accessory, while a new buyer needs an appropriate cable for charging or supported wired use. The product package does not list the game.

Compatibility depends on the device and game

The listing supports PS5, PC, Mac and mobile devices, but that broad compatibility label does not promise identical features everywhere. Sony’s controller support guide says PC haptics require a USB connection and game support; Mac and mobile devices do not support that haptic-feedback feature. Adaptive triggers depend on the game and are unavailable on Android devices. A wired headset connection is required for the controller’s headset jack on PC and Mac, and the jack is unsupported on mobile.

Those distinctions matter if the controller will primarily be used away from a PS5. The gold edition does not remove the platform’s connection limitations. Sony also supports registration of up to four device pairings, allowing the controller to move between supported setups without treating each pairing as a separate product capability unique to this edition.

Original buying window and edition identification

The April announcement specified US Direct preorder opening at 7 a.m. Pacific / 10 a.m. Eastern, with separate local openings in named European markets. It warned that launch and availability could vary by country. The stated limited quantities supply no numbered production total; they cannot establish an exact rarity ranking.

Compare this edition with the separately documented LISA DualSense and GTA VI Black and White editions by exact design and package, rather than assuming all named DualSense collaborations share release dates, buying routes or included accessories.
