GTA VI DualSense: Black and White share the design, but differ in where you can buy
Both controllers are announced for November 19 at $84.99 US MSRP; Black has a narrower retail route in PlayStation Direct markets.
RELEASE RADAR HQThe consequential difference between PlayStation’s Grand Theft Auto VI Black and White limited-edition DualSense controllers is their retail route. Both have the same announced US recommended price of $84.99 and a launch beginning November 19, 2026. White is headed to PlayStation Direct and participating retailers globally. Black is exclusive to Direct in markets where that service operates, with selected retailers serving other regions. For a buyer comparing the two finishes, that distinction may matter more than the shared technology.
A molded design rather than a performance upgrade
The September 3 official announcement describes a shimmering, color-shifting treatment on both controllers and palm-tree details molded directly into the shell. The original product photographs show the fronds running across the grips, with the VI mark on the touchpad and a blue-to-purple center. Black surrounds those elements with a dark shell; White uses a pale shell. These observations concern the published images, not a hands-on assessment of texture or finish durability.
PlayStation frames White around Vice City’s daybreak and Black around its nightlife. That is the maker’s design interpretation. The shared molded details and iridescent treatment make these more specific than an ordinary catalog color, while the announcement identifies neither a different controller architecture nor a new performance tier. A collector can therefore compare the visual treatment without mistaking the collaboration for a DualSense Edge upgrade.
The channel difference changes the buying comparison
In the United States, both editions’ announced preorder opening was September 10 at 10 a.m. Eastern, equivalent to 7 a.m. Pacific. That opening is historical at this check. The announcement also specifies 10 a.m. local openings in named European Direct markets; Portugal is directed to PlayStation’s hardware store. Those are regional purchase instructions, not a single worldwide sale timestamp.
White’s participating-retailer route gives buyers another announced channel alongside Direct. Black’s exclusivity rule narrows the comparison in Direct markets, but does not make it a worldwide Direct-only product: selected retailers are explicitly named for other regions. Neither rule proves that a checkout allocation remains available now. Current stock, shipping eligibility and retailer prices must be checked with the relevant seller.
Shared price and date, bounded promises
The $84.99 figure is announced US MSRP. PlayStation also lists recommended prices for Japan, Europe and the UK, but those currencies are not conversions of a verified current US offer. November 19 is the announced launch starting date; the company warns that exact dates and availability may vary by country. No controller launch hour is supplied.
Both editions are described as limited quantities. Without a disclosed numbered allocation or production total, that language cannot establish which finish is rarer or support a resale prediction. The announcement’s free launch-day delivery statement applies to eligible Direct preorders, not every order or retailer.
The two controllers thus offer a useful comparison of the same collaboration’s physical design and distribution. Choose between the documented dark and pale presentations, then check the applicable channel. The photographs and separate item entries preserve that distinction without implying a game bundle, current stock or unannounced hardware improvements.
