OBEY’s 2026 Ramones anniversary screenprint is sold out at its listed US $75 price. The signed and numbered edition of 600 measures 18 × 24 inches on cream 80 lb Speckletone paper.

The artist-store release was September 3 at 10 a.m. PDT. Danny Fields’ Ramones photography anchors this anniversary design. No restock is announced.

Collector context

Ramones 50th compresses the band’s first three albums into one anniversary image. The photograph comes from a later record than the anniversary might suggest: Fairey identifies Danny Fields’s image for Rocket to Russia as his starting point. His release statement explains the palette as a combination of the debut’s black-and-white cover, the blue of Leave Home, and the black and pink of Rocket to Russia. The result is a tribute to an early run of records, rather than a straight reproduction of the first sleeve.

That distinction also keeps the photography credits clear. The 2016 exhibition announcement for Hey! Ho! Let’s Go: Ramones and the Birth of Punk identifies Roberta Bayley as the first album’s cover photographer and Fields as the band’s first manager. Fairey’s 2026 account credits Fields for this source image. A collector recognizing the familiar leather jackets and brickwork should not transfer the debut photograph’s authorship to this poster merely because both images show the early band.

The album sequence is unusually concentrated. Rhino’s history of Rocket to Russia dates it to November 4, 1977, calls it the group’s third album and notes that it was their second release that year. It was also their final studio album with all four founding members. That gives the poster’s emphasis on Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee and Tommy a precise musical frame: the original recording lineup at the end of its first three-album stretch. The anniversary points back to 1976, while the photograph carries that story forward into 1977.

Fairey had already returned to Fields’s photography in Johnny Ramone Smokin’ Strings in 2024. Linda Ramone invited a new illustration after a tribute-event flyer, and the design combined Johnny’s playing with smoke imagery linked to the event’s Pulp Fiction screening. Comparing the two prints reveals different approaches to tribute. The earlier work singles out a guitarist in action; the 2026 image gives the quartet a shared frontal presence. A common photographer does not make them alternate versions of the same artwork.

There was a live anniversary context, too. The official 2026 tribute announcement carried by Rhino scheduled a Hollywood Forever event for August 30, with a Fairey DJ set and a first performance by Cretin Family. That places his new image alongside an active program of reinterpretation rather than nostalgia alone. For the print itself, the official photograph shows cyan and pink spread across the band and architecture, while the large group name and four personal names keep the collective identity unmistakable. Its most distinctive feature is this combination of one photograph with the visual memory of three records.
