Commanded Blossom TT5-2: Fairey and Hirst’s 2026 edition
The 97-copy finalized edition translates a 2025 collaboration into a 120-by-96-centimetre Diasec-mounted print, with both artists’ signatures on its label.
RELEASE RADAR HQThe Fairey work within a two-print release
Commanded Blossom, TT5-2, is the Shepard Fairey and Damien Hirst work in HENI’s Invaded & Commanded Blossom release. Its purchase window ran from March 26 to April 7, 2026, closing at 5 p.m. BST. Issued at $3,000 before taxes and delivery, it is a gloss Diasec-mounted Giclée on aluminium composite panel, measuring 120 by 96 centimetres. The timed edition was subsequently finalized at 97 copies, according to HENI’s edition-count announcement.
The companion TT5-1, Invaded Blossom, is credited to Hirst and Invader. The three artists’ names in the umbrella release should not obscure the two-person attribution of each individual work. Commanded Blossom is therefore a Fairey–Hirst collaboration, not a three-artist signed edition.
An emblem within the blossoms
The release description places Fairey’s OBEY Icon motif over Hirst’s cherry blossoms. That combination sets a compact, repeatable graphic emblem against imagery associated with profusion and seasonal renewal. As an editorial reading, the title’s suggestion of command creates productive friction with the natural growth implied by blossom: neither element needs to surrender its familiar associations for the pairing to work.
The source painting is a 2025 oil on canvas measuring 305 by 244 centimetres. The 2026 edition preserves the painting’s 5:4 proportions at a considerably reduced scale, but changes the physical medium. It should be described as an edition after that painting, not as a small oil painting or a paper screenprint. This is a consequential distinction for a collector comparing HENI’s mounted editions with Fairey’s usual signed prints on paper.
The object and its documentation
The individual artwork page specifies numbering and signatures on the label, by both credited artists. HENI’s release terms say the work comes ready to hang using a rear sub-frame and does not require an additional frame. That presentation differs from the framed cotton-rag Third Eye Butterfly Mandala editions: the support and mounting system, rather than a separate perimeter frame, define the supplied object.
HENI also states that the release does not include a separate certificate of authenticity. A missing loose certificate is consequently not, on its own, evidence that a copy lacks an originally supplied component. The label is an important part of the documented configuration. The final edition count should not be expanded by guessing artist’s-proof or printer’s-proof quantities; those quantities are not established.
After the timed sale
The primary purchase window is closed. Its original four-month shipping estimate was a production target, not a verified delivery date for every buyer. Likewise, the finalized count of 97 describes the result of the timed release; it is not evidence of 97 copies presently available. The issue price remains a historical comparison point, with any later transaction requiring its own condition, provenance and price evidence.
