Lexicon: Vhils’s papier-mâché edition and its Decal connection
The 2026 papier-mâché work shares Decal’s scale and regular run, with a different AP allocation and a twelve-week fulfillment term.
RELEASE RADAR HQUnderdogs launched Lexicon on 11 March 2026 at 16:00 GMT, according to its official advance announcement. Launch announcement.
Lexicon is a 2026 Vhils edition made from papier-mâché and spray paint, hand-finished, signed and numbered by the artist. Underdogs lists 50 regular examples and 10 artist’s proofs, at 100 × 70 cm. The regular edition was marked sold out at the 8 October 2026 check, with a listed price of €4,300; the AP option was separately listed at €8,600 and also unavailable. Those are observed seller offers, not a claim about the original release-day price. Lexicon.
The support is part of the edition
Papier-mâché makes Lexicon an object-based edition rather than a screenprint sheet. Vhils’s studio describes his practice as revealing images through the manipulation and removal of existing surfaces. For Lexicon, the named papier-mâché support is the most concrete connection to that material-led practice. The listing does not specify whether the image was created through the same subtractive processes used in the street works. Neither thickness nor a mounting system is specified in the inspected release text.
The closest catalogue comparison is Decal, a 2021 edition of 50 plus five APs, also 100 × 70 cm, described as papier-mâché and paint. Lexicon changes the stated paint medium to spray paint and doubles the disclosed AP allocation while keeping the same regular run. A collector therefore cannot identify one by dimensions and an edition denominator of 50 alone. Title, year and edition designation belong together in the record. Decal.
The same dimensions on different supports
Graphite provides a second, physically consequential comparison. The publisher specifies a 100 × 70 cm graphite screenprint on 300 gsm Fabriano watercolour paper, hand-finished and signed, in a regular edition of 250 plus 25 APs. The equal face dimensions conceal different supports and edition structures. A frame or storage arrangement selected for the Graphite paper edition should not be assumed suitable for Lexicon without object-specific depth, weight and mounting information. Graphite.
Underdogs gives Lexicon a twelve-week delivery timeframe from order processing. The clock starts with an individual processed order. It is not a dated reopening or evidence that a particular purchase has dispatched. For anyone encountering a later primary reopening, delivery timing and proof selection would be the useful details to recheck first.
No separate certificate or frame specification is established in the inspected product text. The supported identification record is narrower and more useful: Lexicon, 2026, papier-mâché and spray paint, 100 × 70 cm, signed and numbered, regular or AP. A sale description that calls it simply a Vhils “print” leaves the crucial physical distinction unresolved.
