Vhils and Sam the Kid’s Beats Vol.1: Amor, Gold at Iminente

The September 2026 festival edition combines black, blue and gold, with signatures from both artists and a different identity from the monochrome 2025 print.

Vhils and Sam the Kid brought Beats Vol.1: Amor, Gold to the Festival Iminente Art Store on 17 September 2026. Underdogs announced the collaborative print as available from that day throughout the four-day festival. It described a three-colour screen print using black, blue and gold, signed and numbered by both artists. The artist-store release was tied to a specific performance: Sam the Kid revisited his 2002 album Beats Vol.1: Amor with Orelha Negra and an orchestra.

For Vhils, the album was already a personal reference. The publisher’s announcement describes it as part of the soundtrack to his formative years. That connection gives the collaboration a different starting point from an artist simply producing a promotional image for a concert. The print brings a musical object and a shared cultural history into the physical language of an edition.

The imagery centres on a tilted sampler, surrounded by broken-looking surfaces and fragments of a landscape. The official photographs show the artists holding two examples and other prints laid out in the studio. Their appearance varies, with blue stronger in some areas and darker fields in others. Those photographs are useful references for the range visible in the release, but the announcement does not establish separately named colour editions. A prospective collector should identify the actual example rather than assume every Gold print reproduces one promotional photograph exactly.

Keep the Gold edition’s identity intact

Underdogs separately lists a monochrome Beats Vol.1: Amor print dated 2025. Its product page specifies an edition of 108 plus 11 artist’s proofs, numbered by the artists, measuring 70 × 50 cm, with a €150 listing price. The shop imagery is visibly different from the colourful Gold works in the September announcement.

That distinction is important when assembling a record of the collaboration. The earlier product page’s allocation, price and date cannot automatically be transferred to Gold because the title and central sampler imagery are similar. Gold’s official launch announcement supplies its colour process, dual signatures and festival access; the monochrome page supplies the specifications of its own edition. Keeping those sources attached to the right object avoids blending two releases into one.

Access was also specific. Underdogs’ advance festival announcement reserved the Vhils and Sam the Kid edition for the Art Store, while directing collectors unable to attend to enquire by message. The general online release date given for other festival editions did not establish an online drop for Gold. For future provenance checks, the complete title, photographs of the actual sheet and its signatures and numbering, and documentation of purchase through the festival or publisher are the useful starting points.

The festival window has ended. Current primary availability, Gold’s edition size, dimensions and issue price are not established by the inspected official announcements.
