Graffiti Prints lists Poise’s main paper edition as sold out at £295. The signed and stamped edition of 792 is a 24-color screenprint, 66 × 49 cm on 330 gsm Somerset Satin. The timed sale ran May 7–9, 2026.

The hand-finished Fabriano etching is a separate edition of 50; acrylic and brass versions used separate application routes. The main paper count and price do not apply to those works. The source’s closing hour lacks a confirmed timezone, and no new allocation is established.

Collector context

Poise brought two different ways of owning Martin Whatson’s dancer imagery into the same 2026 release. The main edition offered a fully printed color composition during a timed sale; the smaller etching edition combined a printed figure with marks applied by Whatson. The important distinction is how the image was made, as well as how buyers obtained it.

A dancer across print traditions

Dancers already had a place in Whatson’s printmaking before Poise. In Equilibrium, published by Adachi in 2022, specialist craftspeople translated a dancer into woodcut: six gray blocks built the figure’s shading, and Whatson added hand-drawn details after printing. That earlier project offers a useful comparison of methods within the same recurring subject. Poise’s main edition carries the contrast between controlled figure and colorful intervention through a 24-color screen print. The connection is the dancer motif and the question of how to translate it into an edition, rather than a shared printing process.

Printed color and hand-applied marks

The closest comparison is the Poise hand-finished etching. GraffitiPrints says only the dancer was printed; spray paint and Posca pens supplied the hand finishing. Its larger Fabriano sheet and edition of 50 distinguish it from the smaller Somerset main edition. A colorful Poise image alone therefore cannot identify the version: the medium, paper, dimensions and edition designation work together. The main edition’s signed-and-stamped finish and accompanying certificate belong to its own publisher description, while hand finishing is expressly part of the etching’s identity.

Two routes into the original release

GraffitiPrints’ release campaign gave the etching, clear-acrylic and brass versions an application process with randomly selected buyers. The main paper print followed through a 48-hour purchase window on May 7–9, 2026, ultimately recorded as an edition of 792. That makes its distribution history different from the fixed, smaller special editions. The main-window announcement gave 5 p.m. endpoints without a timezone.

The main release also connected print collecting with a separate medium. Its original terms entered purchasers, through their edition numbers, into a draw for a signed, unique Poise mosaic commission by Musivaria Mosaics. The proposed mosaic retained the print’s dimensions but used a plain gray background. This was an additional original artwork offered through the launch, rather than another numbered paper variant; the source described a planned September draw, not its eventual outcome.

Alongside Make Peace, Poise shows why Whatson’s editions are best understood as groups of related physical objects. The shared image supplies the connection; production and release terms explain the differences.
