The Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 is a coordinated hardware edition: the design reaches beyond the controllers to the console and television dock. Nintendo schedules the US release for October 29, 2026. Its US product listing identifies SKU 121642 and lists $519.99 in its product data. That is a listed price, not confirmation that a checkout allocation is currently available.

The principal collector feature is the set of matching surfaces. Green and gold Joy-Con 2 controllers accompany a black and gold dock with a Triforce motif; related symbols decorate the back of the system and dock. A boxed set therefore has more edition-specific components to account for than a standard machine with one separately purchased controller. If completeness matters to you, compare the actual included pieces with the original package list, especially when considering an opened example.

Under that decoration, Nintendo describes a 7.9-inch 1080p screen, 256GB internal storage and magnetic Joy-Con 2 attachment. Television output reaches up to 4K in supported games with a compatible display, with 4K frame rates capped at 60 fps. These are maker specifications, not results from our testing. The anniversary identity should not be read as a separate performance tier.

A useful earlier comparison is the Tears of the Kingdom OLED edition. That system paired its Zelda design with a 7-inch OLED display and 64GB storage. The 40th-anniversary release moves the collection onto Switch 2; it is not another cosmetic choice within the older OLED family. For someone choosing one system to use as well as display, the supported game library and hardware generation are more consequential than the common gold accents.

The box does not include a game. Nintendo’s anniversary announcement treats the console, themed Pro Controller and other accessories as separate products. Matching artwork is therefore not evidence of a complete anniversary bundle. Set your purchase scope around the pieces you want, rather than assuming the controller pictured elsewhere in the campaign comes with the system.

Importing adds another boundary. Nintendo’s Japanese announcement specifies a Japanese-language, Japan-only system for that market. It should not be treated as an interchangeable US offer with a different currency label. Finally, GameChat’s current requirements include a membership and internet access; its earlier open-access period has ended. A themed enclosure changes neither that ongoing requirement nor the need to check compatibility for individual original-Switch games.
