Swoon Nee Nee: the signed $200 Heliotrope print and its lineage
Heliotrope offers the 13 × 19-inch pigment edition at US $200. The signature and 175-impression limitation distinguish it from neighbouring fundraising prints.
RELEASE RADAR HQHeliotrope’s Nee Nee is a signed, hand-numbered edition of 175, printed as an archival pigment image on 210 gsm Hahnemühle 50% rag watercolor paper. The 13×19 in sheet is available from Heliotrope at US $200 when checked on 6 October 2026. The source includes Swoon’s Spring 2022 statement connecting this version of the portrait to the Sanctuary project and Za’kiyah House in Braddock, Pennsylvania. Heliotrope listing.
A signed edition within a different fundraising format
Several other Swoon releases at Heliotrope use the same paper weight and 13×19 in format but are explicitly unsigned. Edline, for example, is a hand-numbered edition of 250 with the foundation’s emboss. Nee Nee’s stated artist signature is therefore a release-specific attribute, not something that should be generalized to every print in the charity’s Swoon collection. Likewise, the 175 allocation should not be replaced by the 250-impression limitation of Edline. Edline comparison.
This makes the primary description useful beyond price: it tells a collector which marks and edition designation belong to this particular object. The inspected Nee Nee text says signed and hand numbered; it does not independently specify the foundation emboss in the same way as some other product pages. A catalogue should retain the explicit claims rather than fill the gap from a nearby listing.
The portrait’s larger history
Swoon’s statement describes the image’s connection to a young participant in the Braddock Youth project and to the architectural plans for the community building. The print revisits a subject that has existed in other forms. That documented history explains the image’s recurrence without requiring every Nee Nee to be the same edition.
A particularly clear comparison is Turner Carroll’s 2023 Nee Nee, a mixed-media work on mylar measuring 88.5×56.5 in. The scale and support are radically different from Heliotrope’s 13×19 in paper edition. The gallery record should therefore not be used to supply the print’s date, medium or value, even though both carry the same sitter’s name. Gallery work.
The practical collector implication is to preserve title, edition 175, signature status and the paper format together. The 2023 mylar example stretches to more than four times the print’s nineteen-inch dimension; its gallery image and date cannot establish either the scale or the age of the small Heliotrope sheet.
Heliotrope says its print programme supports social-impact work in Haiti and Braddock. The 2022 product statement identifies the Sanctuary context, but it should not be rewritten as a newly announced 2026 campaign or a promise about the current allocation of a specific transaction. This is an existing edition with a documented fundraising origin and an observed current primary offer, with no newly announced release or dispatch window.
