Swoon’s Star of the Sibylants C and F: two ways through a symbolic world

Two 2026 works combine screenprinting and gouache on handmade paper, with distinct compositions, dimensions and a shared London exhibition history.

Swoon's Star of the Sibylants C and F are two 2026 works combining screenprinting with acrylic gouache painting on handmade paper. Woodbury House lists each at £2,750, as observed on 9 October 2026. The shared title and materials connect them, but their compositions and listed dimensions differ. Looking at them together offers a way to see how Swoon reorganises related imagery rather than simply repeating one picture in another colour. Gallery artwork listings.

C: a figure within an ornamental field

In the gallery-supplied image of C, an irregular teal field contains white ornamental forms curling around a densely drawn black central figure. A gold-coloured disc introduces another focus beside the figure, while small stars and a crescent appear above. Broad areas of colour alternate with fine linear detail. The white shapes seem to open a path around the centre, encouraging the eye to circle back through the composition.

The gallery gives C's dimensions as 70×57.9cm, with the signature at the lower right of the front and the date at the lower left. Those markings and measurements belong to this specific lettered work. Its photograph includes a pale frame, but the listing does not establish that framing is included in the asking price. Woodbury's C record.

F: a different balance of circle and star

F uses a related teal field but organises its white forms differently. A large circular arrangement occupies the upper part of the sheet, while a geometric, many-pointed structure extends beneath it. A small dark eye-like form sits near the junction. Compared with C's concentrated black figure and gold-coloured disc, F places more emphasis on the relationship between the broad circular shape and the angular structure below. The two images therefore offer different routes through similar visual ingredients.

Woodbury's own website lists F at 71.8×59cm, also giving 28¼×23¼in, and records the same locations for its signature and date. Primary gallery dimensions. Its Artnet listing instead states 271.8×59cm, a conflicting figure. The dimensions here follow the gallery's primary website and accompanying inch measurements; anyone arranging framing or purchase should confirm the work’s actual dimensions and framing with the gallery. Woodbury's F record.

Print and paint inside a developing story

The combination of screenprinting and acrylic gouache matters to both objects. A printed graphic structure and a painted surface coexist on handmade paper, so neither should be approached simply as a photographic reproduction of a separate painting. The public descriptions do not divide the visible marks into a step-by-step production account. That leaves room to appreciate the interplay of line and colour without assigning each feature to a process that has not been documented.

Woodbury connects Swoon's recent Sibylant Sisters work to a fictional world unfolding across exhibitions, books, film and an interactive oracle deck. Rooted in family experience and an exploration of instability and healing, the project develops its own characters and narrative. The symbols in these works belong within that wider practice, without requiring a single definitive reading of every motif.

Identity, exhibition history and availability

The gallery's exact Artnet records place both C and F in The Life of the Work, its 2026 London survey. That association is useful object history, while the 2026 work dates remain distinct from an exact first-sale date, which the gallery does not supply. Both are classified as original artwork; neither listing states a numbered edition size or proof allocation.

The lettered identities also prevent confusion with Star of the Sibylants G, which Woodbury dates to 2024 and lists in a different format. For a collector, the useful comparison starts with the exact image, listed dimensions, markings and condition of C or F. Their equal asking prices do not make them interchangeable, and those current offers should not be read as documented original issue prices.
